Two uses of the word "Devil", by myself:
1. On Devil Worshippers;
"It is relevant that the word "Devil" means "great deception", because confused are the Devilists!"
2. On Who is Satan;
"We are certainly not "Devil" worshippers, as the word "Devil" originates from Greek, meaning "a great deceiver" and therefore is a bad metaphor to use in place of the word Satan. The word Devil is not included in The Satanic Bible's list of infernal names."
Obsidian, a UK Satanist, mentioned that he thought it came from "devi" meaning simply "god". So I looked into it and immediately found 2 sources that back him up:
"The very word "devil" comes from the Indian devi which means "god"The Satanic Bible: Book of Lucifer:IV,pp 55
"The word "Devil" is from the same root as 'Deva'..."

So I'm faced with the potential that I've confused myself over the history of the word 'Devil'! Thanks for pointing out the obvious, Obsidian, no-one else has!
